Well the cleanup failed.

They come in faster than I can remove them..

A "capthca" or whatever it's called, would be great..  Hard to read, but keeps the spambots at bay..

Especially a customized one that is unique...

Ok.  Is there a way to block the email domain "further-details.com"?  That's a popular one that is nothing but spambots.  Also, I'm thinking, if someone hasn't posted in a month and has zero posts, they get deleted because usually, 90% of true members post when they first register and activate, not stay idle for a month.

Cause some spambots just don't have sigs and I can't go completely by that.

Since it seems most members lost faith here and there's really no more updates and the sites couple months past due now, I might be resigning as I just don't care anymore..  All I do is fight spambot cleanup and like last time, get left in the dust with no news updates.

Well, I hate to admit that the place has been dead for a long, long time now. I think this should be left up though, just for the members who do come back from time to time, like myself. I do hate that it has gone so downhill, but alas, I suppose it was bound to happen eventually. I myself, would love to see it up, as I have been a member for many years now. The spambot situation is quite annoying, but that shouldn't stop the site in it's tracks.
As long as the site is here, I will continue to return on occasion. If it does get taken down, it'll be a sad day...

I'm frankly pissed off by their "we're working on it" or how they said they'd keep us updated, then quite several months ago...

Now it's at the point that they appear to have ran away..  You know what will happen, the bill runs up unpaid for the domain, then it gets shut down and no longer exists..

I wonder if these new "designs" were ever truly in the works, or if it was just all talk..  I wouldn't be surprised if the latter.

I think I speak on behalf of all of us who have worked on this project at one time or another: life has its way of throwing interesting curveballs and side projects like Macteens, while important to us, are not priority number one.

For some time, it was certainly high up there for me- but as you all suspect, this was some years ago when I (and most everyone working on the site) were still teens! I still have a vested interest in seeing the site flourish and have another great renaissance. I don't doubt that will happen, it is just a matter of time. Those of us still with some involvement have very little spare time on our hands, but trust that it is being worked on. I am not an active contributor, I simply advise and offer up opinions when asked. I do know that the site is being worked on though, and actively.

Here lies the rub though - it'll take someone with the amount of ingenuity and passion for this kind of stuff that Andrew and myself had back in 2001 to really get that ball rolling to great places. Contrary to belief, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. A lot of time and effort goes into this stuff. We worked tirelessly on this, brought on countless others to help (at one point our staff list was over thirty!), but in the end, there were like four or five key people that were really instrumental in making this thing work - finding engaged contributors, stakeholders really, in this age bracket is difficult.

I've seen copies of the design, and substantial amount of money has been spent on the new design. It will be implemented. Again, it's just a matter of time.

I'm sorry, but your threats were not the reason I did anything. I visited the site randomly yesterday and decided to chime in. I personally made no promises, and I do not appreciate the accusatory tone here. I simply shed a little light.

And yes, this is the Chris. I had to re-register when the original copy of the forum software was removed for the status site, and I never told Dan to re-admin me. Here's some proof just for you.

This drama is the internet drama par excellance.
